Meet Our Doctors

Our doctors specialise in minimally invasive hand and upper limb procedures and managing sporting injuries.

Our clinic uses ultrasound-guided techniques to treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Cubital Tunnel Syndrome, Radial Tunnel Syndrome and other peripheral nerve compression syndromes. We have been pioneers of the ‘Ultra-Minimally Invasive Surgery’ and ‘WALANT’ (Wide Awake Local Anaesthesia No Tourniquet) surgery techniques in Queensland.

Dr Michael Maguire

Orthopaedic Upper Limb Surgeon
MBBS, FRACS (Orth), MSpMed

Dr Michael Maguire is the founder and lead surgeon at The Carpal Tunnel Clinic (CTC) on the Gold Coast, Australia’s first dedicated clinic for the diagnosis and treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome and related nerve entrapment conditions. A pioneer of ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release, Dr Maguire provides a faster, less invasive alternative to traditional open surgery, with most procedures completed in under 20 minutes using a single pin-hole incision.

Dr Maguire is the only qualified surgeon in Australia offering Ultrasound-Guided Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery (always check the qualifications of any doctor offering this technique before proceeding).

With more than 20 years of experience in upper limb orthopaedics and a Master of Sports Medicine, Dr Maguire developed this clinic to streamline care for patients suffering from numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hands—often caused by nerve compression at the wrist or elbow. His techniques significantly reduce recovery time, allowing many patients to return to work or normal activities within days.

At CTC, Dr Maguire offers accurate on-the-spot diagnosis, same-day procedures when appropriate, and a patient-first approach built on evidence-based practice and multidisciplinary support.
